Asteria Starts Offering Gravio in Asia Pacific with Sales Partner
Hong Kong Branch of IoT Solutions Developer LiveSense

Press Release

Tokyo / Hong Kong — March 9 2023 — Asteria Corporation (Japan listed, Security Code: 3853) and Hong Kong branch of Australia-based IoT solutions development and consulting firm LiveSense Pty Ltd. today announced a reseller agreement to allow the latter to provide Asteria’s Gravio edge computing-based IoT platform in the Asia Pacific, including Hong Kong and Australia. This is the first such partnership in Hong Kong for Gravio.

Background

Through base of operations in Australia and Hong Kong, LiveSense provides cloud-based IoT remote monitoring systems to a diverse range of industries in the Asia-Pacific region, such as healthcare, restaurant, hotel, transportation and education. In recent years, LiveSense solutions have been introduced to regularly record temperature and other environmental variables in the manufacturing and storage of pharmaceuticals and vaccines as well as in food factories. Its real-time, IoT-based monitoring systems have contributed to quality control and maintenance of safety.

The COVID-19 pandemic has created new demand for systems that enable remote management as well as collection and analysis of data on people flow. In addition, demand is growing for wireless communication technologies such as LPWA, which is capable of long-distance communication with low power, to enable an easy data gathering. However, the high cost of communication formats that use advanced technologies such as LPWA is seen as a burden. LiveSense therefore began exploring the possibility of providing services that would meet new needs such as remote management securely and at low cost, and focused on Asteria’s Gravio, which enables the development of AI and IoT solutions without coding and communications between devices (sensors) via Bluetooth. This led to the conclusion of a reseller agreement between the two companies.

Through a partnership with Asteria, LiveSense has begun offering a solution package that incorporates Gravio into a cloud-based solution, enabling control of IoT devices and AI functions at the edge without programming. This allows for secure and low-cost data collection by taking advantage of Gravio’s edge solution and sensors without the use of LPWA or other wireless communication technologies. In addition, the no-code integration via MQTT and HTTP requests makes for quick and easy deployment.

Going Forward

As a first step, LiveSense intends to start offering the solution package for educational institutions in Hong Kong as a learning material on IoT concepts, applications and usage. Asteria and LiveSense plan to expand their offerings not only in Hong Kong, but also in the broader Asia-Pacific region, including Australiaand Laos, thereby spreading IoT technology in the wider markets.
