Communication Module Developer LIMNO Adopts Platio; Young Staff Members Create Over 20 Types of No-code Apps as “DX Influencers”
Press Release
Tokyo — March 28, 2023 — Asteria Corporation (Japan listed, Security Code: 3853) announced today that Tottori-based LIMNO Co., Ltd., which develops and manufactures tablets and other communication modules, has introduced Asteria’s no-code* mobile app building tool Platio and implemented company-wide digital transformation (DX) led by young staff members working on the frontline.
Background and Impact
LIMNO manufactures and provides customized tablets and electronic components for business use. As demand for its products grows with the evolution of AI, IoT, and other technologies, the company has set its sights on expansion into overseas markets. The company was hence seeking ways to promote company-wide DX to further boost productivity.
LIMNO began exploring a tool that would enable even non-IT personnel to digitize operations and improve business processes. The decision was made to implement Platio because it allows on-site staff members to easily build mobile apps they need without coding.
Using Platio, employees learned how to build apps in just one training session. Since each app can be created in about three hours, more than 20 different types of apps intended to increase business efficiency, including prototypes, were produced in two months. This has led to significantly reduce the amount of time spent on traveling from a factory to an office to obtain recording paper and entering data into a PC, which was previously required in paper-based operations.
Furthermore, LIMNO has appointed about 20 young staff members working on-site as “DX promotion leaders” to actively incorporate their ingenuity and opinions who have less resistance to using new IT tools and business processes. By having DX promotion leaders act as in-house influencers and promote the importance of improving business operations with Platio, the company is accelerating the implementation of DX on a company-wide level.
Department | App Overview |
---|---|
General Affairs | Fire control before the end of the workday (A checklist of more than 100 items such as switching on/off of distribution boards and door locks in factories and warehouses) |
Manufacturing | Management of USB flash drives taken out from office (App serves as a record book for managing confidential information) |
Quality Control | Parts quantity control through integration with core system |
Development | Management of consumable inventory data |
As a result, a number of apps were created to increase business operations out of ideas and feedback from those working on the frontline. Users also realized the need of DX and its effects, which further motivated them to advance company-wide DX, led by frontline workers. Since this experience has fostered a culture of adopting IT at worksites to solve problems, the company plans to take DX efforts to the next level by, for example, using data collected through apps as indicators for management decision-making.
Message from LIMNO
It is important for on-site workers to have an easy and approachable tool that they can try out as soon as they review their own work.
I believe that Platio is an ideal DX tool which can be quickly understood and used.
To accelerate DX with the whole company, we have appointed young staff members as promotion leaders from each department. These members, who discovered the “fun” of promoting DX with Platio, are driving the momentum for change at the frontline level as influencers.
The apps created by each department are shared at a presentation meeting. Going forward, we intend to launch internal awards systems, thereby further advancing DX with Platio.
LIMNO President KIMURA Yuichi
* A mechanism which allows creation of software and apps without writing a single line of code. Platio users can deploy necessary functions and modify app’s specifications to make it more serviceable at worksites, even if they do not have expertise in a programming language.

About Platio
Platio is a cloud service which allows users to easily create and use mobile apps that fit specific tasks without coding. Platio promotes digitalization at worksites and improves efficiency of manual processes, thereby facilitating digital transformation (DX) of on-site operations. It offers over 100 templates with which workers who have no programming skills can create a business app. Data that users entered into an app is stored in the cloud and will be shared real time the up-to-date status of worksites with managers. Apps also can automatically detect changes in entered data and send an alert to managers so that they can quickly respond to anomalies. Apps for businesses tend to be complex and expensive. As an easy app building solution, Platio won Good Design Award for fiscal 2018. In 2022, Asteria launched Platio Connect, which enables not only app creation and utilization, but also data integration without coding. This tool supports data utilization by seamlessly linking on-site data with systems and services.
